The European Union doubles its support for Morocco to confront clandestine immigration :

The European Union has approved an increase in subsidies to Morocco to combat illegal immigration from 50 to 140 million euros annually. It was agreed at the last meeting between EU officials and officials of Morocco to receive this amount in two installments.

Spain is the hardest hit by migrants from Morocco, especially from sub-Saharan Africa.

Spain, with all its weight, has stepped up its efforts to increase the European Union's support for Morocco to combat the phenomenon of illegal immigration.

European aid aims to stem the flow of migrants to Spain, the European country with the largest number of irregular migrants coming from Africa through the Mediterranean.

The EU pledged to accompany Morocco in its anti-migration strategy to the medium and long-term debtor, in order to ensure greater effectiveness in reducing the arrival of migrants to the European continent.

Civil society organizations in the region are concerned about the persistence of security solutions to counter this phenomenon in exchange for continuing superficial treatment with social and economic remedies.
