The objective of this study is to make an inventory and a diagnosis of the situation of women, their place and their contribution to the trade union movement in Tunisia. The result
expected is that it could help build a base of knowledge on the role of women workers and trade unionists in Tunisia, and on the obstacles encountered. CE diagnosis
could result in proposals and recommendations so that “gender mainstreaming” ² is reinforced to all
levels of union organization and that the principles of equality and parity of the Constitution are incorporated into the
attitudes and in union structures that were gaining in efficiency and credibility.
