Good governance and rule of law

In a new note made public earlier this week, the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCO) outlined the “main security and political risks that British companies may face when operating in Tunisia.”

Noting that the socio-economic situation in Tunisia was difficult even before the pandemic, the FCO indicated that the country continues to face many economic challenges, including unemployment, which has reached unprecedented levels among young people in particular.

The FCO also indicated that Tunisia was ranked 69th in the corruption perception index, its score having increased by one point since 2019. In this context, the FCO warned about the impunity of corruption and its repercussions on the country's economy and its attractiveness to foreign investors.
