Security and countering violence

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 41 Palestinians, including 15 children, were killed by Israeli occupation fire that claimed to have “neutralized leaders of the Hamas movement in the West Bank.”

In a statement issued on Sunday evening, Hamas said that “an agreement has been found for the Egyptian announcement of the truce, which includes a commitment by Egypt to work towards the release of two prisoners.” The two prisoners are Khaled Awawdeh and Bassem Saadi. The arrest on Monday in the occupied West Bank of the latter, leader of Hamas in this occupied Palestinian territory, initiated the outbreak of this new episode of violence.

Joe Biden welcomed the ceasefire and called for investigations into civilian casualties.
