Good governance and rule of law

The Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) announced on Tuesday evening that the new Constitution was adopted by an overwhelming majority of 94.6%. The turnout was limited to nearly 28% of registered voters.

The opposition coalition National Front for Salvation(FSN), which had called for a boycott of the vote denouncing a text “tailor-made” for the President of the Republic, accused the ISIE of having “falsified” by amplifying the figures on the attendance at the poll.

Mourakiboun and I Watch, two Tunisian NGOs, called for a recount of votes without the participation of the ISIE, saying that the mismatch between the figures of the preliminary results of the referendum, between the statement published yesterday Tuesday, July 26, 2022 and the figures published on the website of the ISIE on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, attests to a flagrant lack of experience and competence.
